Boiler Service

A boiler service is a thorough check-up of your boiler by a qualified heating engineer to ensure it is operating safely and efficiently. Here are some of the key things involved in a boiler service:

  1. Visual inspection: The engineer will visually inspect your boiler to check for any signs of damage, corrosion, leaks or wear and tear.

  2. Safety checks: The engineer will check the boiler's safety features, such as the flame failure device, to make sure they are working correctly and safely.

  3. Gas pressure checks: The engineer will check the gas pressure to ensure it is within the recommended range.

  4. Flue and ventilation checks: The engineer will check the flue and ventilation to ensure they are clear and free from obstruction.

  5. Component checks: The engineer will inspect and test various components of the boiler, such as the heat exchanger, burner and thermostat, to make sure they are operating efficiently.

  6. Cleaning: The engineer will clean the boiler's components, including the burner and heat exchanger, to remove any build-up of dirt or debris that could affect its performance.

  7. Efficiency testing: The engineer will perform an efficiency test to measure the boiler's performance and identify any areas where it could be improved.

Having a boiler service is important for several reasons. Firstly, it can help to identify any potential safety risks, such as carbon monoxide leaks or gas leaks, which can be fatal. Secondly, it can help to improve the efficiency of your boiler, which can save you money on your energy bills in the long run.

Finally, it can help to extend the lifespan of your boiler, by identifying and addressing any issues before they become more serious.

Most boiler manufacturers recommend having your boiler serviced annually, to ensure it is operating safely and efficiently. If your boiler is still under warranty, having an annual service may also be a requirement to keep the warranty valid.
